Nordic Games heet vanaf nu THQ Nordic

Wie had ooit gedacht dat de naam THQ opnieuw zou terugkeren in de industrie? Juist, niemand! Toch is het gewoon, hoe bizar het ook is, waar. De Amerikaanse uitgever ging failliet en sloot op 23 januari 2013 zijn deuren. Gelukkig was daar Nordic Games die zijn naam veranderde naar THQ Nordic, zodat THQ toch een beetje terug is.

In 2014, een jaar nadat THQ zijn deuren moest sluiten, was Nordic Games bezig was om de IP’s van THQ, zoals Darksiders, Red Faction, Full Spectrum Warrior en Destroy All Humans, over te nemen, samen met de naam van het bedrijf en het logo. en nog meer andere titels en het bekende logo te kopen. Zelf geeft THQ Nordic nu aan dat deze naamsverandering een logische volgende stap is:

“Whilst we take great pride in our Swedish roots and accomplished a great deal under the Nordic Games masthead, we decided it was time to incorporate the THQ name. Those key brands will continue to shape our business in a meaningful way going forward, and THQ Nordic represents a core approach of doing much more than “owning” a highly competitive portfolio of IPs. Majority of these projects are based on former THQ owned IPs and franchises.”

We cherish them, and align them with the very best development resources to expand upon them with the level of experience that communities and established fan bases expect and deserve. Side note – another upside to this whole rebrand thing is we don’t get asked about the Nordic Game parties at Gamescom anymore – it was the other guys who threw them.”

Het lijkt er nu sterk op dat het vernieuwde Nordic Games werkt aan 23 games, waarvan er dertien nog niet zijn aangekondigd. De volgende franchises zijn nu in het bezit van het bedrijf:

• Juiced
• MX vs ATV
• Red Faction
